Magpies Out of School Club

Magpies are an independent company ‘limited by guarantee’ which means that we operate like a charity, with any surplus being put back in to the services we offer.

We have an excellent, well trained and enthusiastic team who strive hard to provide a happy, safe and secure atmosphere for the children and a dependable club for parents.

Magpies clubs are all especially well resourced due to successful grant applications to Surestart, Local councils, the Co-operative and the National Lottery ‘Awards for All’ scheme.

Breakfast Club runs from 7.30am until the start of the school day every day the school is open. You simply drop off your child and they get a good healthy breakfast, play with our huge range of activities, and get taken safely to school. After-School Club can pick up your child after school and provide them with a healthy 'snack' and keep them happy until you are ready to pick them up. This service runs until 6.15pm. Please go to the 'After-School Club' page to find out more.

Holiday Playscheme runs in every school holiday and can provide the care you need, if it's all day (8.30am- 6.15pm), or just the bit you need, AM, PM, School Day. Take a look at the page above called 'Holiday Play-scheme'.

You don't have to let INSET days (Teacher training) or day school closures for voting stop you working, studying or what you usually do- we provide cover for the school day or working day, or even the morning or afternoon only. See 'Holidays and INSET' above.

Key features of all MAGPIES clubs:

All Clubs are supervised by a leader trained to NVQ3 or equivalent.

All staff are trained in First Aid.

Recommended staff/child ratio’s are always observed.

There’s never less than two members of staff on duty.

All minimum standards are consistently exceeded.

There are always a choice of stimulating and engaging activities on offer.

Snacks are always healthy and generally contain a source of vitamin C.

Staff are enthusiastic about personal professional development.

We offer fully all-embracing and inclusive settings, valuing diversity.

We encourage and welcome feedback and suggestions through regular user forums, and personal contact.

We are OfSTED registered and fully Insured.

Magpies are members of 4Children and Oxfordshire Play Association, and are working towards Nationally recognised accreditation .

There is always a happy, friendly, secure atmosphere.

Service to schools;

MAGPIES operate within schools to provide the wrap-around care and required out of school provision, in-house as frequently demanded by parents.

This service is of a high standard, reflecting well upon the host school, meets and exceeds all current requirements, but best of all has a virtually zero drain on school resources and administrative time.

We also offer a free advisory service and are happy to help schools facing the mammoth task of setting up a Breakfast, After-School or Holiday Club, or those facing difficulties with the huge amount of mandatory requirements.
